FemTouch

FemTouch in Perth

Femtouch is a laser treatment designed for vaginal health. After child birth and around the time of menopause, women can experience changes with their vagina. FemTouch can promote natural collagen production and address vascularity to encourage healthy tissue growth and elasticity. In addition, the treatment can address external vaginal hyperpigmentation.

The West Plastic Surgery Clinic offers vaginal health treatment through FemTouch for women between the ages of 20 and 75. This can be used whether they have experienced menopause or not. Treatment sessions are short, generally comfortable, without downtime and patients are often able to feel results within a couple of days.

Suitable candidates are individuals who:

  • Are generally in good health.
  • Are experiencing vaginal changes through childbirth, aging or significant weight loss.
  • Are experiencing menopausal or peri-menopausal vaginal changes.

When you attend your consultation with Dr Quinn, he will make sure the FemTouch treatment is fully explained to you. This will include discussing whether it is suitable for improving your vaginal health and what you can expect after treatment is complete.

What are the benefits?

  • There is no downtime and patients can immediately return to their daily routine.
  • Treatment sessions provide convenience.
  • The procedure is non-surgical for a comfortable experience.
  • It is a non-hormonal treatment.
  • Encourages natural collagen production and elasticity.

What does the procedure involve?

The clinician will insert a sterilized applicator into the vagina to administer Lumenis laser treatment. The applicator will be used in an outward 360 degree motion to cover the complete vaginal wall. This has the effect of ablating the tissue to allow for new tissue growth.

No numbing creams or anaesthesia is required for this procedure. FemTouch is described as a tolerable treatment. Patients will be required to bend their knees and place their feet into a comfortable position. You may experience a slight heat and vibration sensation from the Lumenis laser.

Treatment for vaginal atrophy

Vaginal atrophy, otherwise known as dryness, can be caused by lower levels of the estrogen hormone. This can be common in post-menopausal women, causing itching and pain. The ablation technique of FemTouch can encourage collagen production and healthy tissue growth.

Treatment for vaginal laxity

After childbirth, ageing or significant weight loss, women can experience vaginal laxity or looseness. FemTouch can change elasticity by promoting natural collagen production in the vagina.

Treatment for stress urinary incontinence

Childbirth can be a cause of stress urinary incontinence, as well as the risk of suffering from this condition increasing with age. Femtouch can encourage new healthy tissue to line and support the bladder. This increase of vascularity can prevent the bladder from leaking.

Duration

Each FemTouch treatment session takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Several sessions may be needed for the desired results. Since this is a non-surgical and minimally invasive procedure, there is no recovery time needed. This means that a patient can leave the clinic when they are ready and return to their normal activities immediately.

You may notice an a difference in vaginal health after the first session. We recommend two to four treatments. But, this will depend on the reason for FemTouch and the individual.
