About Body Contouring Procedures

Body contouring is a category of surgical procedures that may be considered by patients with excess skin following significant weight loss or pregnancy, or who wish to address localised fat deposits. Some procedures are major surgeries performed under general anaesthetic, requiring hospital admission and weeks of recovery. Others are less invasive.

Suitability for any procedure is determined during consultation following a referral from your GP. Not every patient is a suitable candidate, and Dr Quinn may recommend against a procedure where clinical indications do not support it.

Liposuction & Liposculpture

Liposuction is a specialised field of body contouring that can remove stubborn fat deposits and refine body shape. Dr Quinn offers advanced techniques including Infrasonic Liposuction, VASER Liposuction, Euromi “Tickle” Liposuction, Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) and Tumescent Suction-Assisted Liposuction, tailoring treatment to each patient’s needs and goals.

A key point of difference is Dr Quinn’s ability to perform liposuction under local anaesthetic for suitable patients. This approach may offer a quicker recovery, reduced risk and lower overall cost compared with general anaesthesia, while still delivering effective body contouring results.

High Definition Liposuction & Fat Grafting

Dr Quinn also offers High Definition Liposuction and Liposculpture to enhance natural body contours. Fat removed during liposuction can be purified and transferred to areas of volume loss, including the breasts, buttocks, face, hands and contour depressions, helping create balanced, natural-looking results.

About Outcomes

Outcomes from body contouring procedures vary between patients and depend on factors including individual anatomy, healing response, age, smoking status, weight stability, and adherence to post-operative instructions. Before-and-after photographs shown on this site or during consultation are not a guarantee of any individual patient’s outcome. Some patients require revision procedures. Some patients are not suitable for the procedure they are considering.

Considering a Consultation?

The first step is a referral from your GP. At consultation, Dr Quinn will review your medical history, assess your individual circumstances, explain the procedures that may or may not be appropriate, and provide written information about risks, recovery, and costs. A seven-day cooling-off period applies between consultation and any surgical booking. You may seek a second opinion at any time and are encouraged to do so.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is plastic surgery?

Contrary to its name, plastic surgery does not involve the use of plastics during surgery. The word plastic is taken from a Greek word that simply means ‘moulding’ or ‘giving form.’

What is the difference between cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery?

Reconstructive surgery- surgery to change function or minimise disfigurement that has occurred as a result of an accident, disease or birth defect.

Aesthetic or cosmetic, surgery- designed to change a person’s appearance by reshaping facial or bodily features.

Are my medical records kept private and confidential?

Your medical file is handled with the utmost respect for your privacy. Our staff are bound by strict confidentiality requirements as a condition of employment regarding your medical records. Ordinarily we will not release the contents of your medical file without your consent.

Do I need a referral to make an appointment?

All patients seeking cosmetic or reconstructive surgery are required to have a referral from a GP. Non-surgical cosmetic procedure patients do not require a referral.

What should I expect during the first visit?

To find out if cosmetic surgery is right for you, consult Dr Paul Quinn, who will listen to your needs, examine you and provide you with educated advice. Dr Paul Quinn can tell you what you need to know about the procedure you are interested in, or recommend another to meet your needs and goals.

During your initial visit, the doctor will explain the specific procedure you want, help you visualise the results and go over the risks. Although complications are rare, all surgeries, especially those that involve anaesthesia, carry some risks. Dr Paul Quinn will outline these for you based on the specific procedure.
