Common signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles, can often be treated with non-surgical technology. The AcuPulse laser uses Lumenis lasers for skin resurfacing, ablating the tissue to allow new tissue to grow. This process encourages collagen production and elasticity.
The West Plastic Surgery Clinic can create a personalised treatment program to tackle the signs of aging in men and women from the age 30 upwards. Results are individualised to the patient, with consideration for their skin condition and desired results.
During your consultation with Dr Quinn, AcuPulse treatment will be thoroughly explained to you. He will examine the skin you would like treated and decide whether ablative resurfacing is the right procedure to deliver the desired results.
AcuPulse can:
The clinician will use AcuPulse to heat and destroy the tissue on the area that is being treated. The laser energy pulses will precisely target the skin, without damaging surrounding healthy tissue.
AcuPulse treatment does not require a general anaesthetic. But, a topical numbing cream may be applied to the skin before the procedure begins. This is to make sure the patient feels comfortable.
Collagen production can decrease as we get older. Since AcuPulse can boost this natural production in the body again, fine lines and wrinkles caused by age can be softened.
Once acne clears up, it can leave behind scarring that is difficult to hide. AcuPulse treatment can encourage new tissue to grow, which softens the appearance of acne craters and softens the texture of the skin. This can be a good non-invasive treatment for acne scarring.
The procedure takes approximately 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the surface area being treated. You can expect minimal downtime (2 to 7 days) after AcuPulse treatment and you are free to leave the clinic when you are ready. This means you can return to your daily skin routine after a few days. Results are often visible after one treatment. However, occasionally we can recommend more than one session of AcuPulse to encourage the desired results.
Possible side effects from AcuPulse treatment can include weeping and minor pin point bleeding, scabbing, a mild redness of the skin and a hot sunburn sensation.
A cool compress can be used for temporary relief from side effects. It is recommended that you avoid direct sun exposure for seven days after treatment. If this is not possible, you should wear sunscreen over the treated skin.
AcuPulse is an FDA-approved treatment. The risks of severe adverse effects such as scarring and infection are low. However, you should always discuss the risks of your chosen treatment with us beforehand. Dr Quinn performs all laser treatments himself. Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks.
