Facelift (Contour Thread Lift)
Have you ever looked in the mirror and pulled up your cheeks or the skin above your eyebrows to a higher position and wished it would stay there? Now there is a simple new technique that makes it possible.
Contour threads are designed to reduce early signs of facial aging and help achieve a more youthful appearance. The procedure is suitable for patients with early signs of facial aging or as a stepping stone to a full face lift. The results achieved are not as fulfilling or longlasting as those following a facelift, however, the recovery time, discomfort and cost are reduced.
Contour Threads: What does it involve?
The minimally invasive procedure involves using sutures made from polypropylene, a material safely used in the body for many years in other medical products. The contour threads have tiny barbs that are spaced evenly apart.
Once inserted under the skin, they are fixated in an umbrella-like fashion that gently lifts sagging tissues of the brow, face and neck. The body then generates new collagen bundles that surround each thread to maintain the lifting effect and a relaxed, fresh appearance, while preserving the natural contours of the face.
Contour Thread Lift: Is a hospital stay necessary?
A hospital stay is not necessary. The procedure takes around 60 minutes and is usually performed under local anaesthetic and light sedation.
Contour Thread Lift: Recovery
Cold packs are recommended for the first 24-48 hours to reduce bruising and swelling, which is common following a Contour Thread Lift. Discomfort is minimal, but may be controlled with paracetamol. Full recovery usually takes between one and three weeks.
